Using Blackboard

This webpage will help introduce SAO students to the University's online learning system called Blackboard. We strongly recommend that all SAO students read this page carefully, even those of you who are re-enrolling students.

New for Semester 2, 2008 - Blackboard version 8

Starting in Semester 2 of 2008 Blackboard has been upgraded to run under a new version, version 8.

Swinburne students should use certified or compatible operating system and browser configurations when using the Blackboard 8 Academic Suite

Accessing the Newsgroups

Please Note: Image attachments should only be used in browser mode. When attaching a file, apostrophes should not be used in the filename.

Assignment Submission and Viewing Grades

  • Assignment Submission
    Blackboard allows you to submit some assessment tasks (e.g. essays and newsgroup submissions) online
  • View Grades
    The Blackboard Gradebook shows you the stage to which your assessment item has progressed
