2dF: The 2 Degree Field Galaxy Redshift Survey
This animated movie was produced in conjunction with the Anglo-Australian Observatory to mark the discovery of the 100,000th galaxy mapped by the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey. The survey mapped the locations of nearly 250,000 galaxies within the nearby universe. A Fight Through the Universe shows just what it would be like to fly through the 2dF Survey.
The 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey is now complete after nearly five years of observations with the Anglo-Australian Telescope in northern New South Wales. The survey mapped the locations of nearly 250,000 galaxies within the nearby Universe |
