Vikram Ravi joins the UTMOST project

RackMultipart20131017-8574-1xngbfuWe are delighted to welcome Vikram Ravi to the UTMOST project. Vikram comes to Swinburne from the University of Melbourne, where he did a PhD studying the biggest black holes in the Universe by searching for gravitational waves from pairs of black holes using radio observations of pulsars. He has also worked in other areas of astronomy, from ultracool dwarfs to neutron stars via red giants, and laboratory optics.Vikram will be involved in the upgrade of the Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope to conduct a dedicated search for fast radio bursts – mysterious millisecond-long events that may originate up to 10 billion light-years away.
