SAO E-zine: May 2008

Welcome to the the fourth edition of the SAO e-zine! The aim of our e-zine is to keep the SAO community -- alumin, current students, instructors, and future members of the SAO family -- up to date with the latest SAO news. In this edition we'll be advertising AstroFest 2008, which will be held in the Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia, in October this year. In our "Meet the Instructor" section, we introduce one of our external instructors, Dr Paddy McGee, who will be teaching HET614 in Semester 2, 2008. Our "SAO Research Highlights" features some exciting new results on the effects of dust on the light escaping from galaxies by SAO instructors Alister Graham and Simon Driver. "Student news" also highlights some recent observations of Satrun's storms by SAO alumnus Trevor Barry.

We hope you enjoy this edition of the SAO e-zine and we look forward to meeting you in October!

Cheers,
Sarah and Glen.
