Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC)
The GTC is the world's largest, steerable optical/near-infrared telescope.
It is located on the island of La Palma in the Spanish Canary Islands, at the
Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos.

We intend to utilise OSIRIS, an imaging and low resolution spectrograph with longslit and multi-object spectroscopic modes, for two purposes.
(1) We shall use the multi-object spectroscopic mode to acquire spectra of the many dwarf galaxies within the Coma cluster. With a spectral resolution R=2500, OSIRIS will provide "velocity dispersions" down to σ ~50 km/s.
(2) We shall use the tunable filter mode of OSIRIS to map stellar population parameters in the faint outer regions of galaxies, at surface brightness levels not accessible to standard slit spectroscopy on other facilities.
