Whilst this article concentrates on efficient access to Web based resources for astronomy, several publications listed below describe broader based network resources of interest to astronomers. Andernach, Hanisch and Murtagh (1994) describe network services, catalogs and databases, bibliographical services, electronic publishing and software resources. However, since 1994, many of these services can now be accessed by the Web.
