Astronomers from the Centre for Astrophysics & Supercomputing at Swinburne University of Technology are occasionally able to provide additional special activities for Victorian school students, such as hosting work experience, giving talks to school groups or participating in the CSIRO Scientists in Schools program.
Our main outreach program for Victorian school students is AstroTour, a 3D journey through the Solar System and beyond, held in the Virtual Reality Theatre at Swinburne University's Hawthorn campus. For details, see here.
We are occasionally able to take on high achieving, motivated high school students, with an interest in astronomy for work experience placements. Please note that we are not able to accommodate all requests for placements, due to the availability of staff and the timing of requests.
Due to overwhelming demand this year, we are not able to offer any more work experience placements for 2013.
If you are interested in applying for work experience, please e-mail a cover letter and a resume to Dr Chris Fluke: email@example.com.
Scientists in Schools
The Centre for Astrophysics & Supercomputing participates in the CSIRO's Scientists in School program. If you are a school teacher who is interested in linking your class with an astronomer, please contact Dr Chris Fluke: firstname.lastname@example.org.
