Final Announcement

Dear Colleagues:

Prior to your departure to Melbourne, we wanted to touch base with each of you for one Final Announcement. The Final Program has now been set for The 5th Workshop on Galactic Chemodynamics (GCD-V), being held 9-11 July 2003 in Melbourne Australia.

We are awaiting a few final abstracts, so could we ask you to have a quick look at the program now. If you see a blank beside your name, it is because we haven't received your abstract yet ... in which case, we suspect you know what needs to be done (as soon as possible!) ...

All talks have been allotted 20 minutes with an additional 7-8 minutes for discussion. Computer and transparency projection facilities will be available. We would appreciate it if you could email any Powerpoint (or equivalent) files to Chris Thom prior to your departure to Melbourne.

The Proceedings for GCD-V will be fully refereed and published as a stand-alone volume of the Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia. All participants will receive a complementary subscription to PASA as part of their partcipation in GCD-V. The deadline for receipt of papers to be included in the Proceedings is 1 October 2003; a template and sample paper will be available from the Proceedings link shortly. We anticipate a 3-4 page limit per contribution (two-columns per page, ApJ-style).

The Opening Reception will be held at nevermind bar (336 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn), adjacent to the venue and within walking distance of many of the hotels that all of you are staying at. Maps of the area will be available on the GCD-V web page before the weekend.

The workshop dinner will be held at an exciting new bar/restaurant in Melbourne (Gertrudes, 30 Gertrude St, Fitzroy); if you have not yet signed up for the dinner ($40), but would like to do so, please let Michelle Jolley know, as soon as possible. Similarly, if you have any special dietary needs/restrictions, please let Michelle know.

The RAVE Team will be hosting a 1-day Science Meeting on Saturday July 12, also on campus at Swinburne Univerity. If you are interested in attending, please let Brad Gibson know as soon as possible.

Finally, if you have any concerns or questions relating to your accommodation in Melbourne, please contact our local support expert Michelle Jolley.

We are looking forward to seeing you all soon. Again, if you have any questions whatsoever, please contact us as often as you see fit.
