About Me
WorkMy current job title is Swinburne Supercomputer Research Assistant. This means that 50% of my time is spent being a sysadmin for a cluster of machines totally nearly 300 computers. That is in addition to the some 50 odd office computers and numerous servers and special purpose machines, laptops, and storage devices. The other 50% of my work is involved in research. I recently completed my Masters Thesis (Development of disk-based baseband recorders and software correlators for radio astronomy) and I now continue my work in the same field. This field involves the use of radio telescopes, and the combination of the signals that are received by the telescopes. I won't bore anyone with the details.
Before I began work at Swinburne I was a Masters student. I have recently had my course fully completed, and all I await now is my roll of paper that says it all...
My thesis title was: Development of disk-based baseband recorders and software correlators for radio astronomy. PersonalI'm a huge fan of just about anything outdoors. I grew up in the fresh country air, and I like to get back toward nature when I can. I do this by hiking, rock climbing, cycling and most other outdoors activites. Some of my adventures can be found in the Photos section.Living where I am now makes it difficult to have pets, so visits to my parents property always help, the dogs are crazy one english and one welsh springer spaniels. See the Personal photos section. Part of my personal life involves things similar to my work life, thats right I do a little bit of amature astronomy, or at least I'm trying to. I'm currently building my first telescope - a radio telescope - and more details can be found in the Astronomy page.
