Analyzing and recording biomedical data with biomedical amplifiers

Supervisor:

David Simpson

Suitable year level:

3rd-5th year

Project Description

A suite of programs are required to gather and analyze data recorded with a biomedical amplifier. Example projects using these amplifiers include:
  • Recording brain waves (EEG) to make band analysis (alpha, beta, etc) and for transient evoked potential analysis which requires i synchronous averaging.
  • Heart data (ECG) including QRS detection, between beats analysis and band analysis
  • Muscle data (EMG) including band analysis, action potential triggered recordings. The role of the student will be to develop a general purpose data acquisition program that interfaces with these devices (serial or USB), and work on specific programs for the different data types.

    Expectations/Assessment

To be negotiated with the management team. A technical report will be required summarising the outcomes of the project.

    Pre-requisite Knowledge

Nil, relevant training will be provided.
