Women in Astronomy Meeting

The APRIM2011 Women in Astronomy Meeting luncheon will be held on Wednesday 27 July 2011, from 12:30 to 14:00. The meeting will be at the Empress Convention Centre in Chiang Mai, Thailand.


Program

The aim of this meeting is to discuss about the status of women in astronomy, not only in Asia-Pacific region but around the world, and how to implement action plans that will improve the working environment for all astronomers. The format of the meeting will include a keynote speech by Prof Jocelyn Bell Burnell of the University of Oxford, followed by a break out session to discuss various issues over lunch and then report back to the group over coffee. The meeting is open to all astronomers of all gender. The lunch meeting is also free, but registration is required for catering purposes.
