Dr. Jun Koda
My research is to understand what cosmological information we can extract from large-scale velocity and density distribution, and how accurately we can do that. The combination of peculiar velocity and density fields tells us about gravity through the growth rate of large scale structure, density fluctuation at large scales, and large scale properties of galaxy formation (galaxy bias). My work is theoretical, using cosmological N-body simulations, but also related to future Australian peculiar velocity projects – ASKAP/WALLABY and SkyMapper Survey.
