Dr. Amr Hassan

I am a computational scientist, with over 10 year experience, particularly interested in interdisciplinary research between different scientific fields and computer science specially utilizing scientific data visualization, high-performance computing, distributed graphics processing units (GPUs), pattern recognition, and artificial neural network techniques to facilitate scientific discoveries in the big data era. My eResearch experience and scientific computing knowledge enabled me to work within different scientific fields. These fields include: computational fluid dynamics, 3D scanning and surface reconstruction, and recently radio astronomy.

I have got a PhD in Astrophysics and Supercomputing, M.Sc. (by research) in Scientific Computing, and B.Sc. in Scientific Computing. Currently, I am working as a senior software engineer and development leader for the Theoretical Astrophysical Observatory (TAO) project (https://tao.asvo.org.au/tao/), which is a part of a government funded (through NICTA) effort to build a federated network of datasets from all types of astronomical facilities in Australia.
