AstroFest 2008 - Logistics

Because AstroFest 2008 will be held both in the Yarra Valley & Melbourne and the Yarra Valley Conference Centre is in Dixons Creek, which is about 70 km from the centre of Melbourne, logistics including accommodation and transportation need to be carefully considered.

Getting to the Yarra Valley

The nearest airport to the Yarra Valley is Tullamarine, which is the Melbourne international airport and about 65 km away. Tullamarine airport has car rental facilities and we strongly recommend that people arrange their own transportation. See the location page for maps. For those without a car, we will try to help arrange car-pooling.

Accommodation

The registration fee includes accommodation (either single or shared) at the Yarra Valey Confernce Centre on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 October. It is expected that everyone will return to Melbourne on the evening of Sunday 19 October and arrange their own accommodation. For accommodation options on the 19th, as well as before and after the AstroFest 2008 meeting, see the accommodation page for suggestions.

Meals

All meals, including lunches, morning and afternoon teas, as well as the Friday night reception and dinner, Saturday dinner, and the conference dinner on Monday, are covered by the registration fee. Particiants will need to arrange their own dinner on the Sunday night and breakfasts while not at the Yarra Valey Confernece Centre.
