A New Zeal for Old Galaxies Second Announcement Rotorua, New Zealand, 25-30th March 2007 http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/nz2007 Thank you for signing-up for the upcoming conference on "A New Zeal for Old Galaxies". There has been a great interest in the meeting with over 200 people signed-up for future announcements. Conference Format ----------------- Following an evening reception on Sunday 25th March, the meeting will start 9am Monday 26th March. Each day will end around 5:30pm, except Wednesday for which participants have the afternoon free to arrange their own restful or adventurous activity in Rotorua. We plan to host a New Zealand wine tasting event on Tuesday night and the Conference Dinner, consisting of a traditional native Maori feast and cultural night, on the Thursday night. The meeting will consist of 8 invited speakers, plus Prof. Richard Ellis who has kindly agreed to give the conference summary on the Friday 30th March. There will be space for ~40 contributed talks (of 20+10mins each), and numerous posters. Abstracts --------- Talk and poster abstracts are due 15 Sept. 2006 via the web page. We expect demand for talks to be heavily oversubscribed and apologise now that we won't be able to accept all requests. However, unsuccessful talk requests will be offered a poster slot. Note that only one poster slot per participant is possible. We will make the SOC decision known as soon as possible after 15 Sept. 2006. The registration fees web page will be opened at the end of Sept (payment will be by credit card only). Registration Fees ------------- The conference fee is set at $AUS500 (~$US375), with a half fee waiver for students. The fee includes opening reception, morning and afternoon teas, daily lunch and conference dinner. The wine tasting event will be extra. Partners are welcome at the Dinner and wine tasting on a cost basis. To avoid a late penalty, registration fees will be due 1 Nov. 2006. A reminder that flights and Hotel accommodation are the responsibility of the participants (a range of hotels are given on our web page).
