Shooting Star

A shooting star is not actually a star at all, but rather the result of something much tinier. It is the common name for a meteor, which is both the particle itself and the light phenomenon produced when a solid particle (or meteoroid), typically measuring only millimetres across, enters the Earth’s atmosphere.
